Maintenance - Help or Hindrance

Anne became aware of the Recovery movement in Mental Health a number of years ago. She was informed by people with lived experience and their narratives but was curious as to why these experiences were not being readily translated into developing professional practice towards a Recovery orientation.  Anne’s Doctoral inquiry provided an opportunity to look in depth at what typifies Recovery orientated practice and what sets it aside from traditional practice. Anne will outline one of her frameworks and show how professionals can inadvertently become overly focussed on maintenance, which can not only hinder Recovery but also impede people’s flourishing.
